Army occupied lands

*16. Will the Minister-in-charge, Revenue be pleased to state what steps has the Government taken to repossess or reclaim lands occupied by the army authorities in and around Shillong?   Sir, the matter is under negotiation with Army Authorities and the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

Accommodation at Mental Hospital

*17. Will the Minister-in-charge, Health be pleased to state :-    
(a) Whether the Government is aware that the accommodation and facilities of the Mental Hospital at Mawlai is grossly inadequate?   (a) No, Sir, it is adequate for an interim arrangements at present location.
(b) What action is being taken in this matter?












 		   (b)
(i) Sir, the Meghalaya Institute of Mental Health and Neurogical Sciences has been sanctioned for construction and the work has started at the Pasteur Hill.
(ii) After the fire incidence last year, immediate, urgent repairs have been taken to provide accommodation for the present.
(iii) Instructions were issued to decongest and release the fully treated persons languishing in the Hospital.
(iv) Steps are a foot to provide essential equipments/amusement facility and other basic facilities.

Right to Information Law

(a) Whether the Government is contemplating to introduce a "Right to Information" Law in the State?   (a) Yes, Sir.
 
(b) What action is being taken in this matter?   (b) Matter is under process.

Pollutants emission

*19. Will the Minister-in-charge, Transport be pleased to state :-    
(a) Whether the Government is aware that many vehicles are still emitting pollutants far above the permissible level?   (a) Yes, Sir.
 
(b) What action is being taken in this matter?






 		   (b) Transport Department has taken steps by way of conducting checks on smoke produced by vehicles in collaboration with the State Pollution Control, Board since the early part of 1990. The Department has also conducted checks independently and action taken against the vehicles owners for violation of the Section 190 (2) of the Central Motor Act, 1988.

Stolen Vehicles

(a) Is the Government aware that there are many stolen vehicles plying in the City?   (a) Government suspects that a few stolen vehicles are plying in the city.
(b) What action is being taken in this matter?

 		 (b) Police are taking steps to verify the vehicles plying in the city which includes random checking every day
