Accommodation at Mental Hospital

| (a) Whether the Government is aware that the accommodation and facilities of the Mental Hospital at Mawlai is grossly inadequate? | (a) No, Sir, it is adequate for an interim arrangements at present location. | |

matter? |
(b) (i) Sir, the Meghalaya Institute of Mental Health and Neurogical Sciences has been sanctioned for construction and the work has started at the Pasteur Hill. (ii) After the fire incidence last year, immediate, urgent repairs have been taken to provide accommodation for the present. (iii) Instructions were issued to decongest and release the fully treated persons languishing in the Hospital. (iv) Steps are a foot to provide essential equipments/amusement facility and other basic facilities. |

Pollutants emission

matter? |
(b) Transport Department has taken steps by way of conducting checks on smoke produced by vehicles in collaboration with the State Pollution Control, Board since the early part of 1990. The Department has also conducted checks independently and action taken against the vehicles owners for violation of the Section 190 (2) of the Central Motor Act, 1988. |
