(a) The present status of the Industrial growth Centre at Mendipathar ?		(a) The implementation of the Growth Centre is in progress. The Department has taken over 36 Hectares of land. The infrastructure and development works are in progress.
(b) Whether the Government is planning to offer some incentives to the local entrepreneur ?		(b) Yes, Sir.
(c) If so, what are the incentives ?		(c) All types of incentives and subsidies as mentioned in the State Industrial Policy, 1997 and North East Industrial Policy, 1997 of the Government of India.

Sale of Yarns/Clothes

Recognition of Khasi Language

(a) Whether the Government has moved the Sahitya Akademi for recognition of Khasi Language ?		(a) Yes, Sir.
(b) If so, the current status ?		(b) The Sahitya Akademi has decided to recognise only languages which are included in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution.
(c) Whether there is any decision for declaration of Khasi and Garo languages as Associate Official Language of the State ?		(c) Yes, Sir.
(d) If so, when can a formal announcement be expected ?		(d) After an Act to the effect is passed by this August House.

Issue of Transfer Certificate

(a) The reasons behind the issue of transfer certificate on December, 2004 to 82 students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Jowai ?		(a) 82 students of Government Boy's H.S.S. Jowai were given Transfer Certificate due to mis-conduct, irregular attendance and failing twice in the same class, Sir.
(b) Whether the Government is aware of the fact that all the 82 students are facing problem to get admission in any private school in the State ?		(b) No, Sir.

Ganesh Das Hospital

Work Permit System

Sarba Shiksha Abbiyan

Purchase of Medicines

Will the Minister in-charge, Health & Family Welfare be pleased to state the reasons why patients at Civil hospital have to purchased medicines from outside instead of being supplied regularly by the hospital ?		Sir, Medicines can be provided to the outdoor and indoor patients as per the Government prescribes scale only. The Medicines are made available in the Civil Hospitals for treating patients with common diseases. The Medicines which needs to be purchased form outside are short - shelf life medicines which are very expensive and are prescribed for selective patients like those of cardiac cases. These Medicines are indented in small quantities and are given to critical patients only.

Emergency Unit

The Emergency Units in all the Hospitals are functioning with the basic infrastructure required including equipments and man - power, and are open and active 24 (twenty four) hours a day.

Uranium Mining

(a) Whether the Government proposes to allow UCIL to undertake Uranium mining at Domiasiat ?		(a) The matter is under examination, Sir.
(b) If so, the impediments towards arriving at a firm decision ?		(b) Government is still examining the various aspects of Uranium Mining.
(c) The economic benefit the State will derive out of Uranium mining ?		(c) (i) Royalty. (ii) Employment potential both direct and indirect. (iii) Development of infrastructure including roads, power, communication. (iv) Facilities like school, modern hospital care etc. will be extended to the nearby people by Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL).
(d) The anticipated risks of such a venture ?		(d) Health and Safety hazards in case due precaution are not taken.
(e) The views of experts, impartial and knowledgeable circles in this regard ?		(e) Bhabha Automic Research Centre has indicated that "At the estimated dose of 0.02 milli-sievert per year in public domain in the immediate vicinity attributable to the mining operation, no undersirable health impact is expected."
