Sir, for the year 2003-04 the total Budget provision was Rs.3503.69 lakhs out of which Rs.3498.80 lakhs was the revised allocation and utilization was Rs.2813.24 lakhs. During the year 2004-05 the Budget provision was Rs.4211.20 lakhs. Revised allocation was Rs.4926.84 lakhs and utilization is 2357.94 lakhs upto 31.12.2004. |

(a) Yes, Sir, in stretches. |

being taken to improve the road? |
(b) Repair estimates for damages stretches between 1st
- 72nd Km of the road amounting to Rs.100.00 Lakhs have recently been
sanctioned and works have been taken up under N.E.C. funding. In addition,
the improvement of road pavement portion from (3-12 Km) and 79-88 Km)
under Central Road Fund (C.R.F.) is in progress. |

(a) Medicines are required to be procured at the Government approved rates only. |

happen again? |
(b) The administrative arrangements for purchase of medicines will be streamlined and computer aided system will be put in place. Government will take all necessary measures to ensure that anomalies do not occur in this matter. |

Sir, during 2003-2004, the original outlay under State
Plan including Centrally Sponsored Scheme was Rs.2589.00 lakhs, which was
revised to Rs.808.00 lakhs and the expenditure, incurred was Rs.487.30
lakhs. |

(b) For the portion from Upper Shillong to Nongstoin, the notification was on 27th February, 2004. |

(c) If the answer to (b) above is in the negative, whether the Government intend to make it a National Highway in the near future? |
(c) Yes, Sir, for the remaining portion of the road, the matter will be pursued with the Central Government. |
