(a) The break-up of Government Advertisements released to Daily and Weekly news papers during the past three years?
 		 (a) Sir, the break up of the Government advertisement released to Daily weekly newspapers during the past three years is indicated as per the Statement placed on the Tabled of the House.

Sports Infrastructure in Shillong

12.Will the Minister in- charge, Sports and Youth Affairs  be pleased to state :-
(a) The Sports infrastructure available in Shillong?





 




 

 

 

 

 

 


 

 (a) The  main sports facility available in Shillong is the J. N. S. Complex which comprises a 20,000 seated outdoor stadium with a cinder  400m athletic track which include a standard sized football ground, a Gymnasium -cum Indoor Sports Hall( under construction), two Basket Ball Courts and a Crickets ground. The Shillong Sports Association Manages the  football ground with wooden sitting gallery all round (popular known as first ground).
    Besides the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, the Department has constructed several Indoor Sports Halls and playgrounds etc. at Shillong as indicated here under:-
(i)  Indoor Sports Hall - 4 nos.
(ii) Gymnasium Hall - 1 no.
(iii) Squash Court - 1 no.
(iv) Swimming Pool - 1 no.
(v) Football grounds Basketball Courts - 25 nos.

     There are also projects which are in various stages of completion namely Indoor Sports Halls at Kench's Trace, Laban, Mawlai Mawroh and Mawlai Nongpdeng. There are other major sports facilities which are managed by the private parties/ NGO's like the Shillong Golf Course, Don Bosco Mini stadium, Iewrynghep Playground  (Fire Brigade), Jaiaw Lumpyllon Indoor Sports Hall and Nongthymmai Indoor Sports Hall etc., which are available for public use. There are also playgrounds which are controlled by Defence Organisations like Garrison ground and others.
     In addition to the above there are also several sports Infrastructural facilities constructed and run by Schools and Colleges.
(b) Whether this is considered adequate?
 		 (b) No, Sir.
 

(c) If not, the perspective plan of the Department?





 

(c) The Department is planning to have additional facilities at J. N. S. Complex for which the Master Plan has been prepared. Schemes and programmes are available for providing financial assistance to NGO's/ School? Colleges/Clubs Association for improvement of their respective Sports Infrastructure facilities. The Government is also making every effort to seek financial assistance from the N. E. C. and central Government for improvement of Sports Infrastructures in and around Shillong and for the State as a whole.

(a) The number of Self- Help Groups which are functional in Shillong constituency- wise?

 


 

(a) Sir, constituency- Wise, the number of functional self-help groups in Shillong constituted under Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) are as follows:-

Laban Assembly Constituency

:

 12 Nos.
Mawprem Assembly Constituency

:

 15 Nos.
Mawkhar Assembly Constituency

:

 1 No.

(b) The incentives being extended to such Groups?

 

 

 

(b) Sir, such groups when formed into Thrift and Credit Societies, are given revolving funds at the rate of Rs.1000/- per member. When such groups are formed into Development of women and Children in Urban Areas. (DWCUA) groups, they are given subsidy of maximum Rs.1.25 lakhs or 50 percent of the project cost which ever is less. This is as per guidelines of Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY). Members of such groups are also imparted training to set up self- enterprise ventures.

(c) The number of Groups which secured Bank credit and amount thereof?

(c) 2(two) Development of women and Children in Urban Areas (DWCUA) groups have secured Bank Credit @ Rs.1.25 lakhs per group.


Construction of electric crematorium

(a) The total cost involved in the construction of electric crematorium in Shillong?

(a) Sir, an amount of Rs. 409.00 lakhs has been sanctioned for the project.
 

(b) When will it be commissioned?

(b) The expected time for completion of the project is August, 2006.

(c) The Modus operandi of running the crematorium?

(c) The modalities for running the crematorium are being finalized.
